Sibling jokes about brother’s affair at his wedding

If you grew up with siblings, you know that they can be your best friend and also your greatest nemesis—sometimes all at once.

An anonymous Redditor has turned to a popular subreddit to ask whether they crossed the line at their brother's wedding.

It's no secret that all kinds of chaos can go down during a wedding speech at the reception.

The following story is no exception and ended up causing a bit of a family rift between two siblings.

The tutor, Abby, eventually started a relationship with OP's brother, John.

It wasn't until five years later that John revealed to his sibling that he was getting a divorce because he had met someone new—and somehow that wasn't even the worst part.

In the wedding speech, OP decided to take a shot at their brother over his last marriage ending through the affair. "The gist of the joke was me turning to his new wife and telling her that if she's learned anything from this she should know that my brother 'will never let his wife stop him from finding the love of his life.'"

Although the joke was pretty hilarious, it did not land with the bride and groom who immediately kicked OP out of the wedding.

Many agreed that he went too far with his joke in this situation, but he also got a nice pat on the back at the same time, and 50k+ people agreed with the sentiment.

Other Redditors went for the sarcasm route and said that OP had set the bar too high for their brother's next wedding.

The jokes continued to roll in about the likelihood of the brother's marriage ending again.
