It All Started When The Original Poster (OP) Was A Student
The story started years ago when OP was a student at school who needed a tutor to help with their studies.
The tutor, Abby, eventually started a relationship with OP's brother, John.
Abby And John Got Married And Had A Child
The post continues to explain: "Fast-forward 10 years, Abby and John got married and had a kid together."
It wasn't until five years later that John revealed to his sibling that he was getting a divorce because he had met someone new—and somehow that wasn't even the worst part.
John Admitted He Was Having An Affair
John admitted to his sibling that he had an ongoing affair with his new girlfriend, which put OP in an awkward position as Abby's friend.
OP recalled that "it sucked because I liked John and Abby together."
John's New Girlfriend Was Not Kind To Abby
OP's brother didn't see anything wrong with the way that his new girlfriend was treating Abby which caused a conflict between the siblings.
Things were already off to a bad start with OP's brother's new girlfriend and it wasn't long before the two got engaged.
OP Was Asked To Give A Speech At The Wedding
Despite the tension, OP was going to attend the wedding and was even asked by their brother to make a speech at the reception.
The speech is where OP fears they may have taken things too far.
The Wedding Speech Included A Possibly Inappropriate Joke
In the wedding speech, OP decided to take a shot at their brother over his last marriage ending through the affair. "The gist of the joke was me turning to his new wife and telling her that if she's learned anything from this she should know that my brother 'will never let his wife stop him from finding the love of his life.'"
Although the joke was pretty hilarious, it did not land with the bride and groom who immediately kicked OP out of the wedding.
OP Was In The Wrong, But Also The Hero
One commenter pointed out that most vigilantes are technically in the wrong, "but we all cheer them on anyway."
